CSA Box #3

On Friday, we picked up our third CSA box.

I have really enjoyed getting these for the last two weeks and was so excited to get our box again this week.

Swiss Chard, Lettuce, Pak Choi(aka Bok Choy), Carrots, Strawberries, Beets and Spinach

This box is definitely going to be a new experience for us. Clark and I haven't ever had Swiss Chard or Pak Choi (aka Bok Choy). We also haven't ever liked beets. In the interest of trying new things, we are going to try the beet recipe for Roasted Beet Risotto that was in our CSA Box Notes.

Do you like Beets? Do you have any recipes for Beets that you can share?

  1. You are so brave! Every year I question if we should join a CSA and just try new veggies or if it would be a waist for us.

Maybe try oven roasting the beats? My grandpa used to pickle them. That was terrible!

  2. Maybe this is a dumb question...what is a CSA?

    1. A CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. You buy a share in a farm and you get a portion of their harvest every week. To find one in your area, go to localharvest.org

  3. We got beets in our CSA box last week. This is our second year in our CSA, and we gave the beets a shot last year. This year, I just gave them away! Yuck! Also, my family didn't really like Swiss chard. It tasted a little too much like grass clippings for our liking, but I can send you the recipe I tried with it. It was a pasta with a creamy sauce. It was last year, too, so I don't remember all the details.

    1. We made the risotto recipe that was in our newsletter with the box. I'm going to post about it on here soon. :)
